Thank you for your interest in contributing to DOXA Journal! We’re always looking for fresh perspectives and original reporting to share with our global audience. Below is a brief guide to help you craft a compelling pitch:
What We’re Looking For
We welcome well-researched, thought-provoking pieces on topics such as:
Russian civil society and political activism
LGBTQ+ rights within Russia and in exile
Parallels between trends within Russia and other nations.
Indigenous and women’s rights
Environmental challenges and activism
The war in Ukraine and its broader impact
Cultural trends and phenomena
Data-driven research with narrative potential
We accept:
Opinion Pieces: Compelling takes on Russia-related topics (800–1,400 words).
Feature-Length Articles: Analytical deep dives, original reporting, or excerpts from scholarly research that can be transformed into articles (1,200–2,000 words).
How to Pitch
Start With a Hook: Open with a clear, concise summary of your idea.
Explain the Angle: Why is this story important, and how does it fit the larger conversation?
Outline the Structure: Briefly detail your approach, key sources, or data.
Keep It Concise: Limit your pitch to 200–300 words.
Writing Guidelines
Adhere to the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook for grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
Use clear, accessible language for an international audience.
Include hyperlinks to relevant sources where appropriate.
Submit Your Pitch
Email your pitch to english@doxa.team with the subject line “Pitch: [Your Title].” Include:
A brief bio (2–3 sentences).
Links to relevant writing samples.
We aim to respond to all pitches within a week. If accepted, our editors will work closely with you to develop your piece for publication.
